Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 at Houston, Texas but was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. In order to follow in the footsteps of her father, she completed a degree in chemical engineering. Then she moved into New York in order to follow her dreams as an actor. She worked as a chef in the restaurant in New York, and was a part of Broadway productions. Her cameo was in the show "Felicity." (It is in this series that she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) She got her big break in the action film "Alias." Her debut lead role as a character was the acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." She portrayed a teenager who found herself trapped in the body of the 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the film. They worked together in search of other projects following the death of Winick. Garner was appointed as an ambassador for artists with Save the Children U.S.A. during 2009, had a key role in the nonprofit organization. The job entails the promotion of national literacy, nutrition, and early education. In 2014, Garner has been a part of the board of trustees for this organization, pushing for early childhood education. She has been visiting families throughout Early Steps to School Success - a program designed for parents to learn how to help their child's education - acting as an ambassador.
